So Confused!!!!!!!!
I know this is beating the POOP out of a dead horse but, I can not really find a straight answer searching through the threads. I really want to change my 64 F-100 292 from 3-speed manual to automatic. I have found the c-4 conversion bell but thats a lil steep for my pockets right now. I mean it would be atleast a grand prolly more after torque converter, shifter, trans and then more likely than not rebuild kit. So here is the straight answers I can not find, 1. What auto trans will bolt right to a 292? 2. What car or truck does this elusive trans reside in? and finally What, if any thing has to be done to make this work beside installing it? Thanks In Advance. Again sorry for the beating of the horse.

Well I have figured that a 55-57 had 292 with a Ford-O-Matic, But I don't know if any Ford-O-Matic will fit or just those years. Also don't know how much if any mods would have to be done to make it work besides a floor shifter or finding a auto trans column.

More like a wheeze...if you read some of my long winded posts.
1961/64 F100/350's with 292's used the FX 3 speed Cruise-O-Matic (aka the Small Cruise-O), which has a smaller case than the 1965/67's 352 3 speed MX Cruise-O-Matic (aka the Big Cruise-O).
