Anyway what brings me in today is I need some tires.
Right now I have Michelin X Raidial LT 285 75R 16 load range D. The max air in these tires are 65 psi and the rear calls for 80.
I wanted to replace them with either Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor or BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO 285 75 16 load range E
Now with the price of fuel I was wondering if I went back to the recomended 135 85 16 load rang E if this would make a big enough difference to not have big cool tires.
What do you all think?

I just put the 235 stock size back on mine(from a 265/75 though)......I went with the Yokohama Geolander At/s.....I had them in the 285 size on my SD V10,put 40k on them with that truck before I traded it in,and they still looked new.I have not been hearing good things about the tread life of the BFG's.......and have not heard anything on the Goodyears

I am on my first real trip with them....but brought a boat down to Florida so could not tell you the mileage differance....I am in route home today with just a quad in the bed so I will figure out a tank or two and let you know.

I think that getting 2 more MPG's with just a tire size change would be a lot...unless you are running monster truck tires now LOL. The style of tread may be the biggest influence....street vs mudders and the diameter too. Don't forget that your odometer is off when you change the diameter...it ain't much but, you can reprogram the PSOM to the newer size tire.

Yep, i just put on 285/75 bridgestone dueler revos and i lost .5 mpg on average, no more. smaller will be a little less resistance, but if you like the tires you have, I wouldnt change. smaller ones wont make too big of a difference.

I have not seen a big change..like + .3.....but I did not change size that much......I pulled 22.5 with the cruise set at 72 via GPSfor 90% of the time.....that a 2wd CC 3.55 and my TW chip on the 40 tow tune and 80 psi in the tires.......all of it could be a fluke...could see -.3 next tank

Thanks Jim, Chaos and Ron! I think I will stay with the same size but perhaps tone the tread down some. I have been looking on tirerack.com I will choose my top 3 and maybe you all can help decide?

My_Favorite_tire it's quiet, smooth, not too resistant on the road and great in all 4wd conditions...

Those both look like good tires, both are good name brands, and both have a nice mild tread.
How heavy is she??? lol
on the same tires as mine, my Father in law tows a 14k 5th wheel, no problems. just airs them up to max.
Make sure if you have E range you have a chip/chunk resistant compound if you ever go on dirt roads... trust me you'll want it.

If there is a hum to them I dont hear it over the PSD.....never noticed it on my V10(also in E's) in the 40k they were on it before I offed the truck.
