pvc help...02 screw

02 screw 4x4 4.6l with 70,000mi
well I think I found my problem to my P0171 and P0174 codes I keep getting...the PVC hose at the back of the intake has a nice size hole on the inside of the elbow. but now how do I get the damm hose off the intake? I have tried hard and all I am doing is tearing up the old elbow...the part of the elbow that has the hole is soft and flemsy and the part that connects to the intake is rock hard making it hard to just pull off.
should I cut it off? if I can... or remove the upper part of the intake that it attachs too? seem like alot of work for that...anyone have any tips for making this job easier?

thanks!

If yours is like my 5.4L, the dealer sells the pcv as an assembly: valve and hose w/insulation that connects to the rear of the intake for about $30. This being the case a pocket knife will work well to just cut the hose from the nipple and your get a new valve in the deal. I would check w/your dealer just to be sure though...good luck
