I went to the loal dealership today and they had an 07 harley edition 250 with a 6.0 psd for $31,000. The truck had 39,000 miles, Is this a good deal. All the 2008 were listed for 58-60,000 bucks. What about the 6.0 psd is it going to stay together, I know the 6.0 had a lot of problems did ford ever work them out. Just wondering if I should go make an offer on the truck.
The HD versions tend to bring in a few more bucks and hold their value well (all things considered). Mostly I think this is simply because when Ford offers all these monster rebates they always exclude the HD's so whenever that HD was bought new, chances are it wasnt discounted with special offers and/or rebates. That helps them hold their value on the used side a little bit more than an XLT (as an example) that can be bought new with huge rebates right now. Also, the HD package starts with a Lariat package and adds on from there so they tend to be fairly loaded with bells and whistles.
With all that said, I personally think thats a fair price considering ANY 2007 HD truck stickered over $50k. The 6.0 is not a bad engine but it seems you either get a really good one or a really bad one. Have the dealer print out an OASIS report so you can see if the truck had any problems. In general the 05-07 were less problematic than the 03-04. With 39k on the clock your 3/36k bumper to bumper is gone. You still have a 5/50k drive line warranty and a 7/100k diesel warranty.
