I bought a couple relays from radioshack and they keep on getting corosion looking stuff on them and stop working. Could the problem be from me doing something wrong or from the relays being poop. I use them to run the headlights. :-)
Are you buying their automotive relay? Are you mounting them in the engine compartment in a place that will keep them from getting wet? Are you talking about green corrosion?
Placing two dissimilar metals together will cause corrosion. If your contacts are hot, that means the gauge of the wire or thickness of the terminal is insufficint to bear the amperage used by your lights.Did you solder the terminals? A wire and terminal properly soldered will help make a good connection and fight corrosion.
