Are the tailgate latches adjustable so that the tailgate will close a little tighter (i.e. not wiggle back and forth when it's closed).
Also when the tailgate is open, the passenger side cable is pretty much holding up the tailgate by itself, the driver's side cable is pretty slack. Why is that, any way to fix?
Its normal for one cable to support the tailgate when its down. If you put some weight on it, there wont be any slack in the cable. Make sure its not coming apart in the middle where it bends. I have seen them brake at the worst times and then the tailgate is damaged.
Yes you can adjust th striker on the bed for the latch. If you make it too tight, you'll have to slam it to get it shut though.
Those don't really do anything for a tight fit. When i said weatherstripping i meant something a little thicker. But there should be 3 soft-rubber bumpers on each side. Two of them are push in's, and the third has 2 small mounting bolts.
