1985 explorer right front brake..this is the third rotor and pads in 3 weeks..put a new caliper on too..it just keeps eatin up the pads and scoring the rotor..any ideas what the heck it could be?????
Dogg, did you mean to type "95" Explorer?
If it's truly an 85, then you have an early model Concept Explorer and it's very rare.....
As to the front brakes, check the line coming to the caliper. The soft line could be swollen and preventing line pressure from bleeding off, or the hard line could be crimped, bent, plugged, etc.
Sounds to me like something is keeping constant pressure on the caliper all the time.....? Does the wheel get very hot while driving?
The brake flex line could be collapsed would give you the problem you described. You may not be able to see a problem with it, but since you've already done the caliper, I'd replace the hose.
