I wasnt sure were to post this questions, so I decide to put it here. I recently bought a truck and uninstalled my 3watt mobile phone in my old try and installed it in my new truck. however, i cant get the phone to powerup. I tested the power at the phone and it's getting power. Any ideas?
I'm not sure about your phone but a recent permanent mount hands free kit I installed had two power wires to hook up. One was hot all the time and the other was hot when the ignition was on. The ignition wire was so the phone would power itself down when the key was turned off.
yes, that's just like mine. an always hot wire, and a wire thats only hot when the ignition is on. i know both of my wires going into the fuse box are configured this way. there is also power at the phone handset. i was wondering if there was some procedure you had to go through to turn the thing on - like a anti theft device.
One way you could check for a good ground is to put your voltmeter across the ground lead on the phone to a known good ground. Do this with the power on. If you read any voltage you don't have a good ground.
