I've got a 02 F250 superduty, and it has developed a really bad pulsing in the brake system. It literally pounds through the truck when braking. Its not a wobble or shimmy, but a definate grab and release feeling in the brakes. Now I've been told it could be a loose ring gear sensor but I've ruled that out so far. Does anyone know if a ABS sensor goes out is this is a symtom. Also is there a relay that could have gone bad? Any help is appreciated, Skyryd
Could be several things. Sounds like your rotor(s) are warped. Common theme amongst Ford trucks (my F-150 was notorious for it and my F-250 does it too). Just the nature of the beast (my dad's GM's eat steering components).
You might also pull the wheels and check the ABS sensor. It's magnetized and will attract all fine metal particulate around it. The last time my F-150 warped rotors it chewed up some rotor and all the particles made a giant fuzzball around my ABS sensor (not very helpful for good ABS operation).
Also, I hear that the caliper slide bolts are an issue. I don't know if they would produce pulsing or not, but they are a known problem.
