Steering Stablizer install confusion
I just picked up a Monroe steering stabilizer for my truck from rockauto.com. They had two kits listed- one said "for boxed frame," the other said "for open C-channel frame." I recalled my truck being a C-channel frame so I ordered that one.
I went to install it yesterday and nothing is making any sense.
For one, the instructions with the kit suck.
Second, my truck DOES in fact have boxed framerails right where the stabilizer needs to install.
The instructions say to locate some factory holes in the right side framerail (assuming that to mean passenger side) and bolt this bracket to them. Then they say, "If your truck has boxed frame rails, you may need to drill through the inner part of the frame rail to match the holes in the outside of the frame." Well, I see no evidence of any of these holes they're talking about on the outside of my passenger side framerail, except for a couple large oval holes that are in completely the wrong position and aren't oriented in a fashion that would allow me to bolt this bracket to it.
I would just drill some holes anyway except that I don't really understand exactly where this bracket is supposed to mount.
Should I just return this kit and get the one listed as being for a boxed frame? I looked at the pics of that kit's contents on rockauto's website and it sure doesn't look much different.
