91 F150 (5L) vs 91 Mazda 323 (1.6L)

A kid at work tells me his stock 323 would hand my truck it's backside in a 1/4 mile, I laughed at him, his car is all stock, no spray, should I line up, or do I have something to worry about?

I'd be careful, those 90's 323's are a lot faster than you think. Good friend of mine had his 90's V-6 Mustang get its butt handed to him by one. They don't weigh much. Only way you might win is you have a 5 sp with 4.10 rear otherwise, I don't think you'd do it, you do have more power, but you also weigh roughly 2-3 times more.

It's all about the power to weight ratio. For example, I used to have a 68 vw bug with about a 125 hp motor in it, I blew the doors off my brother-in-laws 70 chevy pick-up w/350, it pissed him off big time , all I could do was just laugh especially seeing how he asked me over and over with a dumb look on his face how much of a head start I needed, and I kept telling him I didn't need it.

I could beat him with my any of my trucks through MY 1/4 mile!
He would be lucky to make it through the first "pothole"

Tell him to stop talking about racing and get back to work.

I told him I'll bring my '90 Lincoln Town Car, it's had a transplant: 5.4L interceptor from an '05 Crown Vic...........
His eyes bugged when I popped the hood........
(The Vic got smashed in the rear pretty hard, about 70mph, cop lived, ain't a cop no more though!!)

Whatever you do-don't race him to the nearest gas station on empty tanks!
