Acceleration Question

I have a 2005 250 6.0L Powerstroke FX4. I try not to really get on the gas pedal much when I take off, but I had to punch it today (car coming over the hill). When I did it really felt sluggish like it was not getting any fuel, then all of a sudden it took off and about jerked my neck off. Any reason in the delay?

yep its a diesel and unfortunately turbo lag is inherent to their design. mine is chipped so if i floor it at a stoplight it will get up to 5-10mph then start spinning the tires. also having your engine warmed up seems to make a big difference. even if it is 100 outside my truck doesn't run well until my coolant/oil is above 180 or so.

It's normal! the turbo needs to start spooling up before you will get the power to come on and if you punch it too fast then it will take longer for the turbo to spool up. Just ease into the throttle when you first start then you can punch it after that.

I have an SCT tuner and it gets rid of most of the turbo lag, Makes the truck very fun to drive!!!
