Exactly....The same reason Anika Sorenstam(sp) played a PGA tournament a few years ago, PR, marketing, and she was just that dang good. She didn't make the cut and was not invited to play again. The boys won't play with the girls because on average a PGA course is @ 1500 yards longer than a LPGA course. Huge disadvantage for the girls. If the LPGA player is willing to play from the PGA tee box, then it evens the playing field.
shes been playing on the pga tour four about 3 years now....usually 1 or 2 tourneys at most....has sucked in every event...and dont know why she continues to play on the pga tour......shes not even close to dominating the lpga. but young, attractive she can be a sponsor *****
Men could play in the LPGA, if they got a sponsor's exemption, which is what Michelle gets. But what PGA player would want to? You don't see guys clamoring to play on the girl's volleyball team in high school, do you? Although it could be fun.....
She's playing as a guest of a sponsor, under what's called a "sponsors exemption" so she doesn't have to qualify for the tournament in the normal way. I assume the sponsor also pays her to appear, because she has very little chance of winning any money for herself.
The sponors like it because it creats buzz for the tournament, so more people will watch, and hear about that sponsors products.
