The jump to "human error" was a bit quick and rash...While I've never heard of this problem, programming an edge is simple and I know the OP has plenty of experience with it. If the edge did cause the problem I'd think it might have been attributed to the cord problems they've had (assuming the port is capable of activating the starter).
The OBD-II port can do anything a scanner (if it's a good one) wants it to do...fire e-fans, lights (of all sorts) crank the vehicle, engage the MAP and oxygen sensors (Mode 6 of course) test all sensors and switches and all kinds of other crazy stuff.
Truck is running fine now. I'll be leery for life of hookinganything other than a scanner to the OBD-II port ever again, and I'm not talking about the little auto zone ones. Only the snap-on ones like my shop has.

What makes you think that?
Human error with tuners happen all the time.
It's not something so unique that someone stating it as a possible reason for a problem that I would consider being rude....

Awww...Like I care what you think, Drew. You still never answered my other question; did you do ANYTHING to your truck, or do you take it to a shop and have them do it for you so you can look intelligent on the boards? Yeah, that's what I thought.
If you can't play nice, you won't be able to play at all.....
Ya know, I couldn't care less. You want to ban me, ban me. I'm going to stand my ground. I've seen Drew here, and on other boards zero in on anyone who says anything about a cai, or an Edge, and lose his mind. I was having a civilized discussion with someone else on another topic, and he comes flying into the room like a seagull, making all kinds of noise, crapped all over the place and left without answering my question. Now he did it again.
My Edge decided to go wacko on me and send my truck into failsafe mode after reprogramming it to econo-mode for a trip to Cheyenne. I followed the steps just like I always did, and in the end it said "PROGRAMMING COMPLETE" (some people missed that earlier) I turned the key to start it, and it cranked and cranked, and cranked, and continued to crank with the key out with the message center saying "FAILSAFE MODE" in all CAPS as I ran into the garage to grab awrench to pull the battery cable. (Not very safe with the starter drawing amps, but what the hell)
Starter locked up about 1.5 minutes into the drill, so I let it kill the battery (by continuing to draw) before disconnecting it since it was starting to smell about the time the starter locked up.
I went to Car Quest and bought a starter and new battery, threw them in, turned on the key (Message center said FAILSAFE MODE still) and went into programming again. Set it for "Return to stock" and crossed my fingers. It finished up, said "PROGRAMMING COMPLETE", crossed my fingers again, and started it up. FAILSAFE MODE went away. I pulled 4 codes but didn't write them down. One was U0300 which Edge had no info on but means Internal Control Module Software Incompatibility. Two had something to do with the the TPS, and the other one was an unknown also, and I forget what it was. I cleared the codes, unplugged and removed the Edge, and literally destroyed it before it started collecting dust.

That's it. Fell free to ban me if you must.
I am not going to ban you. It is up to every man to dig his own grave. What I will not tolerate though is outright offensive retorts to other users posting. The idea of a public forum is the free exchange of thoughts between people. Seems you only want to see one side of it. This isn't high school anymore. If we can't get along, or at least act peaceably towards others, then I will hand out dunce caps in quick order.

4x4freek stated "It was human error". I was replying to the fact that he stated it as THE reason, not a possible reason.
I have one of these units and program and reprogram all the time. I've had mine go into failsafe at least a dozen times. When a poster comes on here and experience a problem like this I'd like to investigate it and follow-up so that I don't have this problem. As the WheelMA1 stated, that's what we're all on here to do.
Unfortunately, the OP destroyed his unit so there is no chance of Edge Tech Support reading the codes and determining the issue. The guys over at Edge are every bit as interested in troubleshooting as the rest of us. If this happens to anyone else, return your rig to stock program, unplug the Edge and go call Edge Tech Support. They will download your Edge's info and will let you know what happened. They are very sensitive to any issue and very responsive. We'll all just have to wait until it happens to someone else.
