Question prodigy P3 brake controller.

Any of you has experience about the P3 Brake controller. Pros and contrs?. I just intalled one and haven tried it yet. Also I changed all new 4 trailer brakes. I need your advice because I haven used both (brakes and controller) and Im planning to make a camping trip next month.

thanks in advance.

I think the P3's only advantage over the Prodigy is that it can be used with electric-over-hydraulic brakes; if your trailer doesn't have those you could've saved some $$$ by buying a Prodigy.

my suggestion is to get it out and make sure it stops, take it for a little sunday tow or something. Better to find out your stuff either works or doesn't work prior to leaving and not knowing. Suggest taking it down a few roads that are not traveled and checking it out.

I've heard only bad things about the P3. If you aren't using electric over hydrolic brakes, you wasted $100, more if you end up having to buy an easier controller :P The P3 can get very confusing and can be difficult to adjust, especially while driving. It is by no means "hands free". You will have to focus on the controller and its menus so its not always feasable to do while driving. The regular Prodigy is far easier to use and much safer to adjust on the fly.

Thats a good advice, I will do what you suggest, you are right I have to know if they are working or not.

Again I should ask before buying it. I hope I can adjust in the best way with not troubles.

Thanks a lot to all of you.

"Thanks Steve but too late for me.....I should ask before buy".

If your retailer is worth a damn, HE should have asked.

I'm not sure I understand why the P3 should be that much harder to adjust. Granted, I have not had an opportunity to tow with mine yet, but in reading the instructions, it appears the only thing you use the menu's for is in selecting Electric vs. Hydraulic and setting the language, display options and stuff.

As far as adjusting, it appears you just use the up/down buttons, where on the original Prodigy you would use the thumbwheel. The boost button on the P3 works the same as on the original Prodigy.

I may be wrong however, as I said I haven't had a chance to actually use it yet.
