found a block to put under carb. it's 5/8 thick. going to machine down to 1/4, that should accomplish enough insulation to carb. as far as starting goes, i use truck year round and it always starts extremely quick. what i'm trying to accomplish is keeping cool gas flow into engine during heat of summer, yet not too cool during winter. if you have seen gallery, i'm pushing two live axles, an auxiliary underdrive, and transfer case. that means truck is working harder in summer simply because all boxes are hotter. i do have front axle lockout, but still have to spin components in box. this truck was not designed to run every day in summer, it was designed to work hard in SNOW!--- and it does!

I looked at your gallery. NICE TRUCK ! The bed reminds me of some old tow trucks I have seen. Is it original in design or all fabbed?
i took some cardboard and made a few patterns. you see end result. 2x4 1/4 wall frame set up for dump cylinder, sectioned fenders, 3/16 bottom and sides, built in chain box, ready to dance. the rest of truck is original, off frame resto 18 years ago. i had 3, parted out 2, kept this one! thanks for the compliment.
