Intake Manifold Gasket Help

I have a 1976 F-250 Super Cab, with a 390. I am replacing the stock manifold with a Performer 390 manifold. Both stock and performer manifolds have a port that goes all the way through from #2 to #7, right beside the intake ports. What is this port for?
The gaskets I received with the Performer manifold seal this port off. Is this OK, or do I need to get stock gaskets? And what gaskets are the best?

Seems like the designer maker of the manifold doesn't want that port open, why not use their gaskets. Thats what I would do. Kotzy
