Have an `87 Bronco II/MT 2.9 EFI. Oil light came on the other day, but I dont have any reduction in performance and it seems to run fine...So it has to be indication problem....Any help for this system would be appreciatted.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 23-Oct-02 AT 03:25 AM (EST)] I would hook up a direct reading guage just to be on the safe side. If the pressure is good then I would bet the oil pressure switch died.
You could also, after you verify the oil pressure is good, disconnect the oil pressure sender. If the light goes off it is a sender problem, if it doesnt it is a wiring problem.

ps
Had this problem a few months ago on a Buick LeSabre, the oil filter actually plugged up and the light came on.
87 bronco 2's have a low oil level indicator tied into the idiot light its on the side of the oil pan, with one wire coming out of it.
chk maybe the wire fell of or broke.had it happen!
