Fine with me I suppose, it was kinda fun while it lasted but a lot of work to keep up with. I want to try and post this anyway. It is aimed primarily at Kwik for all the help he's given me via pm's. This is the result of leaving a car parked in a field unstarted for 4 years. This is the in tank pump and pickup screen out of the Vdub. I finally have everything working. Had to replace this to get the fuel gauge to work. $275.00 new without the pump. I got both at the local Vdub boneyard for 30 bucks.
Thanx Lisa, I suppose Scott will move this when he gets around to it. There is still one item that does not work and that is the A/C, but I ain't gonna bother with that one. I am surprised it ran at all with that clogged screen, I should have taken side by sides with the new screen but by the time I thought about it I had it all back together and it was just too hard to get that twist lock cap on the tank on with nothing but a big hammer and screw driver........LOL.
That a pretty rough looking setup you had there mark. So you went with Kwiks in tank pump? I think when my pump craps out I'll go with that in tank pump myself. Lets just hope its not to soon! With all the modding, maintenance I've did lately the old piggy's looking mighty slim! Just bought some '08 tow mirrors yesterday and I'm fixing to go install some new headlights and the list goes on, on!
No, that's out of my drive around nowadays Vdub. It won the ugly car contest we had on here a few months ago, but it's a ball to drive. I've actually had people chase me down on the road wanting to buy it from me. The 86 Cabriolet came with 2 fuel pumps, one in the tank and one outside. I think it will run with just the outside pump working, but that clogged screen sure wasn't helping matters very much. Dan called it a "transfer pump" whatever the Hell that is.
