  • F25 = F250 - 2 Wheel Drive

  • C = V8 292 CID 2BC Carburetor 1961-64
  • N = V8 302 CID 4BC Carburetor 1962-63
  • D = V8 352 CID 2BC Carburetor 1965-66

Consecutive Unit Number (Series #) Key Information 1961-66
  • 1961: The 1961 restyled trucks featured less front overhang, more rounded lines, a flatter hood and larger glass area on cab.
  • 1962: Restyled slightly with Ford letering relocated to the grille opening. As in previous years the custom cab option was available on all models. It consisted of woven upholstery, chrome trim on the instrument cluster, white steering wheel, two-tone interior, bright metal grille and windshield reveal moldings.
  • 1963: A rectangular grille pattern and hood side emblems are new. The 6 Cylinder 262 CID now available.
  • 1964: The F-100 styleside got a new separate double wall bed with a single handle tailgate latch. The F-100 was available with either 6-1/2 food bed or 8 foot bed in Stepside or Styleside form. The bed floor on the Stepside was wood covered and the Styleside bed floor was steel.
  • 1965: The twin I-beam suspension was added. It combined the strength of a solid front axle with the softer ride possible in a design using independent front suspension. The parking lights were now located above the headlights.
  • 1966: New grille added. The grille now featured a horizontal bar and twin spear shaped openings above two rows of small rectangular cutouts. A new Deluxe Ranger option included bucket seats. Trucks equipped with the Ranger dress-up package are identified with a Ranger emblem.

The engine codes are incomplete and one is wrong.

Some like the 302 & 292 4V are for F500 and larger trucks only.

There are no FT engines listed.

D = 352 2V = 1965 only

Y = 352 2V 1966

J = 1965 240 1V

FTE already has VIN decoders, and there are at least 7 ppl here that can decode VIN''s, so why would this be needed?

I could list EVERYTHING that pertains to 1961/66's, and that would be the only way to do it.

But that would take hours of research (mostly for the rear axle codes themselves, because there are 100's and are mindboggling).

So, even if it was a sticky, some ppl wouldn't use it...so why bother.

If someone lists their Warranty Plate codes, both Don (camperspecial65) and I can decode all of it in less than 4 minutes flat. Don now has the exact same info I do.

He isnt yelling IsoGrifo....Bill is 1000% correct...things like paint and DSO codes and the like are gravy compared to rear end codes...the trans codes can be a bit fun as well, but the rear axles are by far the longest list if one were to attempt to compile ALL of them for 61-6 F100-350 trucks...

When we chat next time Billy, I will enlighten you a bit more...but needless to say, its time consuming
