I just purchased a used 1998 f150 4wd ext cab w/Off road package. I've owned 4 dodges over the last 12yrs, a 94, 00, 01 and my last one was a 4wd Hemi. I sold my Hemi 2 yrs ago since I bought a new home.
The reason for buying this ford was that my old man owned it since new and only has 70000miles on it, I guess not bad for a 10yrs old truck. Is there anything I should know about this truck that I should pay attention about?
It has the 5.4L with 3.55. He had all 4 brakes done recently and some front end work done.
What i mean by that is that i have never seen a bone stock diesel get 24mpg... although i have seen deisels with mods done to them, get pretty close to 24mpg.

Who said our truck was bone stock?? We have a after market intake a 4 inch straight exaust and a smarty tuner
exactly... who wants to buy a 45k truck and then put a 1500 into it, not all of us are rich, brand new f150s are 22grand here now.... thats alot of driving at 24mpg to save 24grand in cost savings..... to be exact.... its 220000miles (figuring if fuel was priced the same) which it isnt.
nice truck man! you will be stuck with ford from here on out, its a heck of a truck... mine takes ALOT of abuse like a champ
