Brake booster
Brake booster
Came across a 77 model with front disc brake's; I got the calipers and front disc from a 73 model given to me from fellow FTE member. My question is will the brake booster from the 77 model fit onto my 65 model firewall, I guess the real question is the brake push rod; will it need changing?

Yes take the one from the newer model truck. Cut a little off and shorten it and weld it back up. The booster will bolt up no problem just need to shorten the brake pushrod. Depending where you weld it up you can change the pedal position.
Mitch and others, the firewall and floor are basically identical, as are the chassis from the rear cab mount points out to the ends of the frame rails from 65-79.
With a couple exceptions (65/66 4X4 & 350) about anything that will work on one will fit the other.

Do you have the bracketry ( Cantalever ) ? You may want to take a look at
the tech Artical and that may help a lot!

Yes it will work but you will have to change the pushrod lenght. I tried many different boosters and never got one to work until I cut one and shortened it. Just take the one and use it as a reference. Thats what I did and am loving the power brakes.
^^^^ in the brake pedal? I thought of this too. But I have access to a welder and saw so it was easy. But you might be able to just drill a new hole. It would be way easier.

Mitch, you are relocating the mount point. My 66 has the original st. drv. brake pedal, after being converted to PS and C6 tranny. I believe I drilled a new hole in the booster arm about 1 1/8" to drop the pedal hang position. I recall my knee hit my chin using the factory hole.
When you cut and weld you are moving the mount point. I didn't have a welder.

Thanks John;
I removed the power booster & master cyclinder from a 77 truck; yesterday; the push rod (brake) seem to already been welded with a piece of flat metal and a 1/4 inch hole for a bolt to attach the arm to the pedal. I will try and post pic's soon and got question in regards to the wire connection on the master cylinder & portion valve. I wonder if I can convert my brake light wires onto one of these wire; or need to add the brake light mechanism on the pedal.

P.S Don't weld your pedal, drill the flat bar! (Cantalever).
