I've been watching the threads on the 6.7 and 4.4 (which is supposed to have similar HP/TQ numbers as our 7.3) with interest. I'm not a fan of having to remove the cab to work on the motor like with the current 6.4. I'd like to purchase a motor that I know can hit 300k on the odometer. The problem is Ford doesn't seem to keep motors around long enough anymore.
Isn't there another emissions tier to be met in 2014? Personally, I've been hoping the high fuel prices would make Ford focus on longevity and fuel economy more than HP/TQ. Historically that's been the advantage of the diesel motor, and that's the reason I bought one. I for one would be willing to sacrifice 50 - 100 hp for a motor that would last as long as the 7.3 and get the same or better mileage.
I can't wait to see a picture of the engine. The switch between intake and exhaust port positions makes soooooooo much sense for a turbocharged engine.
i dont think that ford is making this engine, i think that it would be to expensive to manufacture and design a diesel engine, not only once but every couple of years. i think that it is a Cummins engine, the reason i say that is because ford and cummins build generators, and i think its branching out.

From what I've heard Ford has been collaborating with Cat on the 6.7L.
ive griped about this before but wont they get better emissions if they made an engine with 300hp and 600ft/lbs of torque and gets 20 mpgs than one with similar hp and torque and gets 8-12mpg
enlighten me someone
My money is on a ford design, cast, produced, and installed between the brazil plant, mexico, and US/Canada.
Ya i dont foresee any affiliation with cummins since they are already with Chrysler. Ford or Cummins has made nor attempts at getting with eachother. Also - Cat has openly said they want NOTHING to do with the light duty diesels and emission regulations.
I aslo think it will be designed, engineered, and built by ford (in brazil of course!)
