Has anyone attempted to wire a backup camera to the factory nav system as it comes in the 2008 SD truck systems? My 2008 F-350 has the factory nav but no backup camera (has after market chassis box).
I am certain that the flat panel (LCD screen) has video capability (probably NTSC &/or PAL) - virtually no panels from the Pacific rim countries are made without video capability. It is just a matter of how to access the video capability & then to properly interface/switch it. Also if this is basically the same system used in the Ford autos it is already being done.
Of course it would be great if there was an RCA jack on the nav unit just waiting to have video connected.
Sometimes you can get an interface from PAC, PIE, Peripheral or Axxis. Other times you have to find out if the manufacturer has leaked out that information. Check with PAC and PIE first thought, they might have a module that will plug in and give you a back up camera.
