Ok, after owning her for over 2 years, I'm about to start using the X for towing. I've read up on what I need to upgrade suspension-wise (rear sway bar, shocks) and a good hitch, do I need anything else, like brakes, tires (D-rated Pirelli's on it now) or any performance upgrades? I've noticed that most everything is for the PSD's and my V10 doesn't have many items to upgrade with, but of the few upgrades, do I need anything other than a CAI and tuner( and which tuner is best, I currently have an Xcal 2 for my Stang)?
What is the weight you will be towing? Makes a BIG difference. Good shocks and the rear Helwig is a good starting point. You really don't need to do any performance work. Make sure your regular maintenance items are up to snuff (Filters, etc.).
If you are going to tow over 5-6,000 lbs, you should probably have Load range "E" tires on and use a weight distribution hitch.
3stangjohn: Need a little more information on what you are towing. Weight and length would be good. Do a quick search on the forum, as there are some great posts. Look for
X_Hemi guy's posts, as he has put together some good information, and he has a V10. I agree with Cardiac on load range E tires, depending upon weight. I only added the Hellwig, and aired the load range e tires to 80 psi rear and 75 front, and this beast towed like a dream. Of course I have a weight distribution hitch and friction sway bar. Most of all, take it easy on the road, I keep it under 55-65 and enjoy the trips!

Sorry about leaving out some details, was kinda late last nite!! Haven't gotten a trailer yet but have been looking at a 24-28' enclosed car hauler to transport the 2 project stangs to New Hampshire. Probably getting a V-nose 24' which will be 29' total length and will be about 7-8000 lbs. The X has 3.73's if I remember right and a K&N drop-in. It will get a thorough going over maintenance wise before towing (teenage son has been driving it some, want to make sure every is where its supposed to be!!).
How often are you goin to be towin that weight? I would deff recommend hellwig sway bar and E rated tires. If your goin to be towing it all of the time, i would deff go with 4.30s. It puts the v10 in its sweet spot on the highway.

I would start with the hellwig and load e tires and see how it handles. Not sure how often you will be towing, but start with that before going much more. After tweaking the air pressure you should know if you need anything else.
Yesprofit is right about the air pressure in ur tires. My tires were at 30 PSI ( i kno didnt fill them for a while lol) and the truck swayed reallllly bad, especially on the highway. Once i put them back to the stock PSI, the truck handled like it had a sway bar installed
