uhm. no they dont actually sometime the early 70's motorcraft was launched by ford replace autolite as the ford replacement parts and autolite is owned by honeywell. and motorcraft is really basically owned by ford, not autolite. and they may make a certain motorcraft part not all sometimes motorcraft asks other makers of parts to build some of their stuff but not often
Motorcraft does not make many ignition parts, but rather serves as a purchasing and quality control department for Ford. For most Ford vehicles, Autolite manufactures both the spark plugs and spark plug wires as well as some other ignition components. This is true of most all Ford models sold in the US, with the exception of the Duratech engines, which use NGK ignition components.
I did not mean to say that Autolite was Motorcraft or that Motorcraft owned Autolite or that either company owned the other in any way, but that the original Motorcraft plugs and wires for your vehicle are in fact made by Autolite.
Upon close inspection, you can observe that what I say is true on the matter. The Autolite plug is identical to the Motorcraft in almost every aspect, the only change being the part number and the color of the ink that is used to print the logo and number. The Motorcraft part uses a Motorcraft number and has the Motorcraft logo and number printed in black ink, while the Autolite part uses their own Autolite number, and has the logo and umber printed in blue ink. In all other aspects, the plugs are identical. Same with the wires. The wires have different colored insulation, and have different numbers and logos printed in different color inks, but the wires are identical down to the exact type of silicone rubber, and the same part number for the metal clips and the materials they are made from. Their resistance properties are identical, the layers of material are also the same.
Just make sure the Autolite wires you buy are in fact the same and not some cheaper line. Make sure they are OE spec wires.
ok sorry i think i misread it i thought you said autolite owned motorcraft oops sorry im just a dumb 17 year old that cant read. well that explains why the autolite and motorcraft plugs looked almost identical dang i didnt know that motorcraft didnt build ignition parts well see ya learn something knew everyday sorry bout the miscomunication

In 1972, Ford was forced by the US Gov't to divest themselves of Auto-Lite which they had owned for around 10 years. The Gov't said Ford was creating a monopoly by cornering the market. Ford's argument was that GM was doing the same thing, since they owned DELCO [Dayton Electric Laboratory Co.], which GM had purchased in 1911.
With Auto-Lite gone, Ford then started in-house brand Motorcraft, transfering all the Auto-Lite parts numbers to Motorcraft part numbers in the process.
The reason GM bought DELCO originally was to get DELCO's founder, a brilliant engineer by the name of Charles Kettering, prolly one of the most...if not the most influential figures in the automobile industry.
Kettering was GM's Chief Engineer for decades...one of the major reasons why GM was the leading innovator of things mechanical.
The only close rival Kettering had was Colonel Jesse Vincent, Packard's Chief Engineeer.
Together, these two men plus Chrysler's "Three Musketeers" (Zeder, Breer and Skelton) led the industry in innovations.
Well, I got the Autolite Profesional, which are a little cheaper than the other Autolites they make, but all they had. Supposed to be OEM replacements.
I just put in Duracraft (Duraguard?) wires last week that were supposed to be the best OEM Autozone carried. Did everything I could think of to get my truck to stop hesitating during acceleration. Couldn't figure it out until I popped the hood last night and could see one of my new Duracrap plug wires arching. I could see nothing wrong with the wire in the light, but with the new set of Autolights my problem seems to be solved...knock on wood.
