Does every Ford dealership have one? Down in Florida I asked the service manager if they have a 6.0 tech, and he replied "Oh yaya, Big John's been working on diesels for a long time. He does just about all of my diesel work." So I'm standing there still wondering if this guy is just learning on the fly, or is he a 6.0 tech? I didn't ask if he's certified? Should I have? I did have to return my truck back to this Florida dealership for corrections, twice. Is it appropriate to ask this question?
all dealers have to have a certified diesel tech if they sell the trucks. now, a good tech and certified tech are 2 different things. i was diesel certified when i came out of college in 01 but i never touched one for 2 years. now its all i do, day in day out.

Now thats interesting. I have 2 dealers in my area that do not follow by those rules yet they sell diesel trucks. One dealer sends all diesel engine work out to another dealer that is a former Ford heavy truck dealer. The other dealer has a part-time/traveling tech that they use on a as needed basis. Needless to say, I will not use either...
So who would do the best work on my 03' F-250 with 120k. The dealership with a 6.0 tech or the dealership with certified diesel tech? Does it matter? I apologize understanding this could be a loaded question and I don't intend to create a rift here. My intention is to cultivate a good relationship with the right tech at the right dealership.
you might try asking to speak with the tech and explain your concerns. Some people can usually tell they're beind sold some BS just by speaking with someone face to face.
