When pulling off a stop or driving at moderate speeds (under 40 mph) my truck will shift gears (normaly 1st to 2nd or even up to 3rd) when it shifts, seems to slam into gear. Not just lightly but like really slams her in there.
Tranny fluid is up to par, full and clean. Beats me though. Any takers?
Check engine light on? Check it for codes even if its not?
No codes? could be bad....
Do this first, but could be a bad throttle position sensor (engine would not run right) or possibly a bad shift lever position sensor. I am assuming it is an E4OD?
I did a little digging and it's a '94 F-250 with a 351. So I'm thinking he has a E40D Trans. I can tell you myself that Tranny acts crazy when it's Fried. Hopefully this is not the case

Yes they do at that but it could be just a bad VSS or PSOM or both creating the issue, the computer just not knowing how fast the truck is moving and when to do what.
sorry Ive been out of town for the last few days for work. I bought the truck from a guy who said the tranny was a newer rebuild, as well as the engine. No check engine lights come on. And it will slam from first to second and occasionly second to third.
another thing i noticed today, seems as though the truk doesnt want to down shift unless i slow way down or come to almost a complete stop. Going uphill also seems like its chugging. I dont know the best way to describe it sorry
