Well, most of you know I replaced the fuel pump that died on my truck. That new one works great.
Then I replaced the u-joints on my driveshaft. That threw everything out of balance and I struggled to get that fixed (thanks DCSpecial for answering all my 5 billion questions). Now the vibrations are gone, but I developed a leak at the pinion seal, so I have to get that fixed.
Also noticed some oil weeping from near the oil cooler lines. Hasn't dripped to the ground, so it's not a full on official leak, but it's another hassle to deal with sometime in the near future.
On top of that, I developed a huge boost leak. Funny thing is on Friday I met up with a bunch of guys going to Truck Fest, and Blowby told me to check the intake plenums (since I suspected the leak to be in that area) and see if they were crushed. Sure enough, the passenger's side collapsed. So now I need new plenums. He didn't even peek under the hood, yet he diagnosed my truck like magic
Oh, I'm not done yet..... I'm burning oil now. Yep. In the 5 years I've owned my truck, it has never burned more than a quart and a half of oil between changes. Now it's going through about a quart every 1000 miles. It's not dripping on the ground, so I'm not losing it that way. The amount of blow by coming out of the CCV hasn't changed, so it's probably the injector o-rings. Now I'll have to pull them out and change the o-rings. Might as well swap out the glow plugs while I'm in there too. They are the originals with 115K miles.
Man, I have a crap load of stuff to fix on this truck.
Almost forgot.... my windshield is broken What did I do to get such bad ju ju????
lol, I am in the same kind of boat, seems everything is messing up all at once on my truck. If I figure out whats causing the bad luck, ill let ya know.
I really feel your pain, here is what my truck has done to me
In the last 10 months I have replaced...........
The trans 2 times (OK there might have been something else wrong but still)
The front bearing/hub assembly
The outer locking hub
The balljoints upper and lower on both sides
All new brake rotors
All new brake calipers/pads
Front axle U Joints
Both batteries
Shocks still need to get replaced, They are in the mail
Front swaybar bushings
and a few small things are on the list still. For the moeny ive spent so far, I could have really made a huge dent in my payments on it.
I've done plenty of work on my truck too. Some voluntary, (PMS) and others non-voluntary.
The non-voluntary figure is about 3x the PMS figure, so I have a lot of catching up to do.
Usually, bad luck happens in three's but you are on four's... sorry to hear pal. I have a set of glowplugs on the workbench I bought 18 months ago just waiting to go in once I have a "real" reason to pull the v/c's.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one having problems...haha
All new brakes (Love those frozen rotors)
All new tires (Silent armors are nice)
New radiator (Old one had a bad tank gasket I guess)
New u joint
New pinion seal
New fuel line at the motor
New quick disconnect fitting at fuel pump
New rear wheel seals twice
New rear caliper
Needs new front bearings
Needs front u joints
New windshield (05+ windshield mod)
New alternator
New serp belt
New power steering pump
New air box housing and filter (AIS)
New dipstick
Pedestal o rings
EBPV rebuild kit
slip joint fix
Needs carrier bearing
Oh and my rear end has some slivers of metal in it and a lose yoke.
Hey curtis, sorry to hear about all the problems. As much as we praise these vehicles they are ALOT of money to upkeep. These guys have saved me a ton of $ already! I have alot of the same problems you do with burning oil. The truck runs great so i suspect injector o-rings as well. Which is harder, turbo removal or injector o-ring replacement?
