Just installed a new throwout bearing, clutch fork, and master/slave assembly into my zf6 and now it makes a awful screeching/whining noise and wont shift into any gear. Does anyone have an idea?
ok the truck will not start when it is in gear even with the pedal all the way into the floor and it all most sounds like the starter is kinda spinning while it cranks
As far as I know yes, and the truck does start and run. When the truck is off it shifts in and out of all gears but when running it is locked out of all gears. When in neutral it has a light squeal (kinda like an annoying belt) when I depress the clutch it becomes very bad. If I stay of the clutch and rev it to 1000 or so in neutral does not squeal.
Heck, I've been ignoring this thread because I thought it was another auto tranny question.
Why did you just replace the throw out bearing and clutch fork? Where did you get the throw out bearing and fork? Squealing a little in neutral and making a lot of noise with the pedal depressed sounds kind of like a bad throw out bearing, but that shouldn't explain the no start in gear. Can you get it in gear with the engine running? With the clutch depressed does the truck try and roll forward (or backward depending on which gear your in)?
For the no start, check your clutch pedal position switch and make sure it's in good shape. If you can pry it back with your fingers and it doesn't snap back to the firewall when you let go you may have a problem.
No it will not go in gear while running, Yes it does try to move forward or back depending on what gear I am trying to select. I replaced them because the throwout was bad and the clutch fork was broken.
Are you sure you got the right parts? If the truck is trying to roll forward when you start, and won't go into gear, it sounds like the throw out bearing isnt' pushing against the pressure plate properly. Unless you have had a sudden clutch or pressure plate failure, it kind of sounds like either the wrong parts, defective parts, or the throw out bearing isn't sitting in the clutch fork.
Have you checked out the hydraulics to make sure they're doing their job? Maybe pull the slave cylinder and push on the clutch fork with a rod or screwdriver to check for excessive play?
