I am new to this forum and have a question. I am rebuilding my deceased husbands 1997 F-350 powerstroke. The injector pump needs to be replaced. I have one for a 6.9 1989 diesel. Are they interchangeable? I can't afford to replace it with new or rebuilt but I promised my husband I would get this truck running. If ou have any suggestions please let me know.
I think that they are not interchangeable, the 6.9 and 7.3 powerstroke are completely different motors, but I could be wrong, don't know a lot about either motor.
Cuda is right, the 1989 6.9 is an InDirect Injection (IDI) engine and the 1997 7.3 is a Direct Injection (DI) engine. The IDI has a high pressure fuel injector pump and the DI uses high pressure oil to fire the injectors.
Check out thie site for info on the DI injector system: PowerStroke
Like Cuda said, let us know what your problems are and someone on her can help you.

Sorry to hear of your loss,
Welcome to FTE. These guys know just about everything there is to know about this truck. they'll steer you in the right way.
ford refers to the high pressure oil pump (hpop) as the injection pump. your best bet is to buy another one used 15 degree pumps are pretty easy and affordable to get your hands on. not very often do they fail. it could be the injection pressure regulator which is on the pump or injector orings.
how many miles are on it? check the classifieds here or at powerstrokenation
