well i started of with stock painted aluminum 5 spoke rims and i stripped the paint and underneath was like cast aluminum a (very rough), of that 38 hours prolly 37 1/2 was sanding and half an hour of actual polishing
What product did you use to strip the paint off? I did that to a set of rims once, and they turned out to be kind of a gun metal greyish color, and I couldnt polish them up shiny.
i used to use something called air craft coating remover, worked slick but very caustic, you coulda if you sanded them smooth. Polishing is essentially abrading it smooth
