A/C clutch cycle
I have been working with a friend on a problem with his 1998 E250 Van with a 4.2L V6 He has replaced the compressor,evaporator,expansion valve,and receiver dryer. The condenser and all hoses were not changed.I will keep this to the point and add info as needed. After the system was charged it cooled just fine. However the clutch cycles about 3 times as much as it should per the Ford factory manual. Using the charts in the manual the low side is at the minimum and the high side builds to 240 lbs when the clutch cycles off. My friend informed me he could not get the amount of oil in the compressor the manual called for so he added the extra to the reciever dryer. He guesses about 2.5 oz. I contend this is entirely to much oil in the reciever dryer and is causing a restriction in the system.Can anyone help? Iwill be glad to supply any info needed. Thanks in advance.
