Where ya been Rich?? havent seen you around her latly
Chris,
Been out of the loop for 6 weeks or so. I took the kids camping to Gatlinburg, TN for 2 weeks and then up to South Dakota for another 2 weeks. Finally got back after the 4th of july and I've been running my but off to catch up with everything. Then on top of it, my 6 year old had her tonsils out last week, wow - the plate has been full.....
Had a blast camping and finally got to hang out with crusty ol' Tenn01psd350 at his house were I woke up with one hell of a hangover.....
The swap isnt hard at all, and you must replace the spider. Check ebay for the spider, and boots you need. Then get some IH exhaust bellows for the up-pipes and a brand new pedestal with EBPV delete. It will never leak since there is no rod or anything in it to leak. You will also need the intake manifolds since they are bigger on the 99.5+ trucks. That should be all it takes. You will also need an adapter to make it bolt up to your stock downpipe. Might want to watch the D66, depending on your injector selection you might want to go bigger.

Sounds like you and the family had a good trip, hope the little ones doing good. I can imagine waking up with a hang over at Mikes house, heck hes got "Miller Brewing Co" next to his avatar. Good to have you back though.
Hey now folks, IIRC, Rich was the one that kept running to the fridge getting more. That is, until he was unable to run.
At Smokin, I am just another guy. IDC what anyone else is doing as I am having fun.
To the OP, you will need the late 99-03 intake plenums as mentioned along with the spider which I believe they call the manifold. Ron, aka Ron's powerstroke has done this conversion and is all over it.

Well thats good to know, not that it matters
And I thought you needed the late intake plenums and everything, thanks for verifying that.

you need up pipes, turbo, pedistal, spider, IC boots and the plenums to make the swap...i did mine with used parts for under $1,000 with the turbo...have a look at the diffs between the two..click on the pic below..i called and asked about D66 turbo posted above..I was told by them that with the D66 turbo a set of splits and some tuning 400 HP can be had..i didnt have the funds at the time so i went with the 99.5 swap...
I'm almost embarassed to ask, but what is the benefit to installing a van turbo over stock?
It's a non wastegated turbo and has a larger housing, 1.15 compared to the stock .84. Lower EGT's and less back pressure. It's a good affordable option that cost less than 1/2 than the aftermarket drop in turbos and good for up to 400 hp.
