6.0 Guy Needs Help...Again
My buddy has a 00 F-350 7.3,
He thinks it may have been struck by lightning. Heres what happens, when you first drive it, it makes a faint beeping noise in a series of threes and then stops. You can turn the blower motor on without the key in the ignition, also you can hear the A/C relay click under the hood. The O/D light came on and had a VSS fault code. The speedo didnt work when he drove it today. I drove it and it worked also the PCM see's VSS. I watched it through the scan tool. The GEM module had 15 codes in it. I am not so sure that it was struck buy lightning as I worked on a car that was and it had worse symptoms but I am not ruling it out.
Hopefully its just the GEM module but I am lost on this one.

I am finally going to get to replace that GEM tomarrow. I am not convinced its going to fix it but we shall see. I guess this is a common problem. Does anyone know if it needs to be reprogrammed on a 2000 or just the later ones. The parts guy said no but he wasnt that convincing. If it does is it something that is available ona genaric scan tool, Mac mentor is what i have, or is it dealer only software. The parts guy asked me if it was ESOF, had power windows, and RKE, etc, etc,etc. Thanks a million and hopefully this fixes it.
