Time to repay

I read through the first couple of hundred posts, so it this has already been asked.. please direct me to the appropiate thread and accept my apologies.

I have been an avid reader of this board and it has saved me hundreds over the years so I would like to pay it back during this next project in using as many of this boards sponsors as possible for this next project.

I have a 2002 F250 PSD w/ 180,000 Miles. Its time to give it a makeover.

Everything on my truck is stock and it run great. My goal is to achieve better fuel performance and handling. I don't tow anything anymore, but I still love my truck and enjoy driving it. I would also like to make sure that all items that should be serviced are serviced given the high miles on the truck. So if there is anything that the manual doesn't suggest, please let me know.

I should also point out that I am a mechanical idiot.. I will say that I read a post about the "Door Ajar" light being on all the time and I was able to apply WD-40 to the door mechanism to fix the problem.. thats the extent of my abilities.

So when making suggestions.. please be as specific as possible.. when people on here start rattling off part numbers, you may as well be speaking another language to me.

Lastly.. is there a source for finding "good" diesel mechanics?

Thanks to all for your time.. I will gladly let everyone know how this project progresses...

Wow a member since 03and 2 posts. Welcome to the club!! Glad to see you postin.
I don't have all the links handy but some of the others do. A few easy mods you can do are the 6637 (napa part #) air filter. A 4" turbo back exhaust. A set of guages and A DP tuner. These will give you the most bang for your buck. All of these things can be done for $2000 or under. As far as a good diesel mechanic, you have at your fingertips the best of the best right here. If you can fix the door latches then you can do anything with help and guidence from the people on this forum.

WoW, Welcome back. I see your last post was in May 2004. Read what Ron said. Lets see if we can get your post count up, or do we have to wait till 2012 to hear from you again? JK. I'm sure this forum changed sense the last time you were on here.

Ask all the questions you want.

Just remember.. You dont have to login to read. I am from the age that says.. if you dont have anything good to say.. keep your mouth shut. LOL

OK.. thanks for the reading links.. been going thru those and I guess the first step for me is more air in.. more air out? I read some of the info on the air filters.. thank you Ron's Power Stroke.. suprise suprise.. The one thing I did do was shell out a small pile of green for a K&N filter..

So.. Air IN.. Besides just the filter.. should I look towards and air intake system to improve performance and mileage?

Air out.. is 4inch turbo back acceptable? I heard a truck not too long ago that had a really nice "whine" coming through his exhaust.. even at low idle.. I do know it had a Stainless tip! Told you before not much gets by me..

BTW.. if I am starting in the wrong direction.. please stop me now..

Welcome to FTE again, lol. Your starting in the right direction as for intake. The napa filter is a hit around here. If i was on this forum earlier i would have went with it, but i,m happy so far with my S-B kit. Exhaust, i got MBRP duals but its all preference but a few guys will pop on and tell you what they have.

I hat to tell you but PLEASE dump the K&N asap. One of our brothers lost an engine due to a K&N. Don't be afraid to ask questions or chime in with something that you noticed or saw. You can always join us in the OT thread for some OT fun! Best group of people in the world here!!
