ive been looking to find another motor/transmission, to refurbish, or buy fresh but anyway as a daily driver i need my truck all the time and rarely have down time, so if i had a loose motor/tranny how long would it take to swap them out, im trying to plan everything ahead a while so im somewhat safe when im doing this, any pointers? im probally going with another 6.9 and a c-6, but i want to turbo the new motor out before i install it, as well as running all new exhaust
hey i appreciate the input, 14 hours sounds right, my exhaust will probally be what ever is made for the turbo setup, im tied between the banks and the ats systems, but i hear banks is going to no longer going to make the setup for our idi motors so if i choose the ats system im going to put on a muffler and put a smoke stack on the passenger side, i plan runing everyting first, then just plum the stack into the exhaust system when im done. off topic but ever hear of anybody dropping a caterpillar 3206 in these trucks??? sounds interesting...
Those look pretty heavy, but with enough time and $$$, I guess anything's possible.
As for the engine swap, as long as its the same motor as what was in it, it should go smoothly. There's not that many wires to hook up. I'd also run a couple extra gauges while your in there (i.e. boost, pyro, and trans temp.) for the safety factor. watch the boost if you're going to turbo it.
