Are Wix fuel filters any good, seen in popular mech. they came out with new fuel filter 33818 ( element and lid are a single unit). And what oil filter is best.

I personally use the Wix, on all my trucks. Best prices are at fleetfilter.

How much are the Wix filters? If you go that route make sure you hang on to your old cap in case you want to switch back. I'd also check out the gasket that goes between the lid and the bowl. I've read that Wix has changed to a flat gasket on top that requires a film of MOTOR OIL on the gasket to prevent leaks. The old bevel gaskets just use a film of diesel. One of our members learned this the hard way, so use the oil with the flat gasket and save yourself the headache.

I've always used the Motorcraft filter since they are very reasonable at most stores.

Racor is who made the fuel filter for Ford. You can get a Racor filter for a little less RACOR - FUEL FILTER ('99-'03 FORD 7.3L)-Dodge Cummins and Ford Power Stroke Diesel Truck Accessories - Geno's Garage
