AC help

1997 F150. The air conditioner doesn't work on my son's truck. It hasn't worked all year. When you turn the AC on the compressor doesn't come on at all (does not engage and turn, not even a click). We checked all the fuses and can't find any that are blown. If the freon is low or out will it keep the compressor from coming on at all? Where to start?

Yes, there is a low pressure cut off switch. This link will take you to another thread with a electrical schematic/block diagram of the AC system. Good luck!
