I've just changed out the stat on my '94 1/2 since I wasn't sure the engine was coming up to full temp.. The needle always sat at the low end on the gauge - and it still does! Is this the proper position? I would have thought it should be towards the center.
I've just changed out the oil pressure sensor for the same reason and now the needle sits in the center of the gauge.
I suspect the water temp sensor may be getting tired.
On these trucks its perfectly normal for them to run in that position. The stock gauges are junk. Mine used to run on between the bracket line and N on normal before I put the 203 stat in.
94.5 PSD comes stock with 203 degree stats. My 94.5 sits around the R and M in the gauge when driving normally. The oil pressure gauge is not really a gauge, if you have more that 7psi then the gauge reads half scale. But you can convert it to read like a real oil pressure gauge, well without the numbers.
Thanks for comments , guys.
I changed the stat out to 203, which I believe is standard for that year. My gauge only indicates C-H and the needle sits at the low end. I think I'll change out the sensor anyway. Doesn't cost much and it's easy to get at.
