How do you remove the Pop Out Window Latching Mechanism's?
I have a broken one on the sliding door window, it's the one nearest the rear fortunatley and not near the lock. But it's still possible to pry it open enough to break in if someone really wanted to, not to mention it flaps and vibrates when going down the freeway because of the busted latch.
I was out at the Junk Yard today getting other things I found a van out there with those pop out latches tried to remove it but I was not successful, I was just wondering is there a Special Tool I need for this job?
Meantime I guess i'll crazy glue the existing one and hope that holds and just won't open the window til I can fix it (my brother will really love that).
Presume on "85 E-150"? From memory: 1st remove Philip's screws holding latch to steel window frame, then unscrew entire latch from button that goes thru glass.
Guess I was tryin to pull a bad one off the junker, when I tried unscrewing it from the button all it was doing was turning the button, I tried holding the button with vice grips and it seemed like it was backing out but then I noticed it wasn't. Suppose I can try again because the crazy glue fix didn't take all I succeeded in doing was bonding my fingers
