Help FInding Glove Box Squeeze Latch

My glove box squeeze latch broke and I found out I can remove the retainer and pop the whole thing out. I saw the fancy locking reproductions on ebay for 40 bucks

I wonder if a JY would have these? I just want a regular one, not chrome or locking or anything like that.

That's where i got mine. JY's are wonderful places. I always try to walk out with just a few more items than I went in there for. You never know...

I would assume a junkyard would have one. They are really easy to remove.

Finding locks in junkyards is hit and miss. Alot of times guys like me find them and get them all, and then hide them away for safekeeping until someone we know needs one, we use them for something else, or ship them out to others who need them. I think I have 6 or so if you're interested.

You could also try looking in a Dodge Viper, the rear storage compartment of a Viper uses the same exact mechanism.

My dad and I got the door locks, locking hood release, and locking glove box with the key out of the junkyard a couple of weeks ago.

Also check the old fox body mustangs, they have the same glove box latch.

I got mine from a jy. I wanted one that locked, found 2 in a jy and practiced re-keying on one, found out how easy it was and now have a spare.

My thoughts exactly. Is there a re-keying article for the glovebox latches on here?

They come apart easily enough so you can replace the broken part or re-use the lock cylinder.
