Not much for HP gains. Most everyone here has done the in tank and fuel line mods. I haven't seen the mod to the fuel filter stand pipe, but will probably be doing it at next filter change.
Saving this for later at home on the cable modem.
Better video that way.
Don't forget. I'd like to hear your opinion on this.
As for me, we just recently discovered this guy, and I do like him putting his info on video. Removing the screen or filter on the in tank pick up is something common around here. We call it the hutch mod. Welcome to guzzle's In-tank Hutch Mod Web Page While we're in there we also throw in the harpoon mod which will allow you to fill your tank closer to the top before the nozzle kicks off at the pump. We usually run a filter between the tank and the pump to prevent debris from being sucked into the fuel pump.
Removing the spring in the stand pipe inside the fuel filter bowl to reduce the restriction sounds logical, but it seems to me that as long as you have enough fuel that there is diesel flowing back through your return line to the tank this isn't necessary, and the increased fuel volume returning to the tank may just increase the foam in the tank.
Drilling out the ports in the fuel rails again sounds logical, but from what I've read, the limiting factor seems to be high pressure oil, not volume of fuel.
As for swapping out to a stiffer spring in the FPR, many here just install a shim to increase the fuel pressure.
I can't think of any negatives about the hutch and harpoon mods, unless you try and lower your fuel tank when it is full. As for the rest of them, maybe the FPR shim? If I were you I'd call Tony and get his opinion on what to do with the set up your running. If you really want your truck to run better with your current set up, the best thing I can suggest is to drive down to Texas (or catch Tony on a trip) and let the Wildman do some live tuning on your truck to get things dialed in just right.
Edit: Be sure and wait for other responses on this too. I'm curious to see what Dan (kwikordead) has to say on these. He doesn't run a pre-filter on the pump. He stuck his pump inside the fuel tank.
when going for big HP you do run out of fuel..i was fallowing a thread over on another site about this..there is one guy there feeding all 4 corners of the heads..another guy (DI)said flow though is the best..this went on for quite a few pages and even got ugly there...but these are all guy's in 500 HP and up rang with big injectors...the faster it flows though the cooler the fuel is..the cooler it is the better it performs..so any restriction taken out the better...
David lott said the best performance is to feed the back of both heads using the port's in that video..how ever..making that turn out of the passenger side head is hard to do cause the down pipe is there..this is why feeding through the smaller ports is more suitable...none of them guy's are running the stock fuel bowl..I can PM any one this link if they like...lots of reading to be done..its 30 pages long...
Yeah i'll take the link, i love reading threw things like that.
