Paul-
I think i just resolved my problem - very similar. Turned out to be #2 injector not firing. It tested fine with continuity tests but when i ran the truck with the valve cover removed, there was no oil coming from that injector - i swithced it out with #4 to make sure that it was not the wiring.

Hope this helps you.

Piet, thanks for the info. I am going to have to find someone to help me do this. Danged back. All I can do now is open the hood and gaze. Everything is out of reach, including the danged oil dipstick. I feel like such an invalid since getting my hip crushed. I used to just lay the blanket down and crawl right up under the hood.

I have been wanting to remove the covers anyway and check the harnesses. Be a good time to upgrade the injectors if several of them are going bad.

An update to this string. After screwing around with the problem for over a year ans spending over $1K in parts, I found it. DAMN THROTTLE PEDAL. Replaced it and the old girls **** and vinegar is back.

Thanks Ed for getting me the part and at a reasonable price.

Thanks to Scott, Nissandoc and the guys in Tenessee for finding it at our campout event.

Now to get rid of the vibration at 80mph and I will be thrilled!

Wow, that was some head scratcher. Glad you finally found the problem and got it fixed.

It's easy to get rid of that vibration at 80 mph. Don't go over 75.....

Yeah, but I can cruise at 75, for some reason, the old girl like 82mph. It was around 76 until I went to the 305/70s. Funny thing is that the speedo is still correct, just the crusie changed.

I had completely forgotten about this thread. I had to read it all over again to get caught up.
I am going to remember it from now on, however, and if my truck ever starts to lose power for some unexplainable reason I'm going to put a throttle pedal assembly in just to erase that possibility.

I understand what you are saying. Most vehicles have a speed that just seems to be "comfortable" for them to run. On your vibration, years ago I had a car that had that problem. Finally found that the driveshaft had rust in it. Replaced the driveshaft and all was fine. Couldn't have been from the rear u-joint that had been broken and the driveshaft had beat a hole in the floor pan.

Mark, that is what I suspect too. I think the rear joint is about to fail. Gonna take it to a buddy of mine that has a lift and have him change both of them. He won't charge too much.
