is this a problem on all 94's?
both of mine do not work was wondering why

everything is hooked up correctly, just can't seem to get it working.
My 93 F150 quit working warranty. Before I took it to the shop I checked it out myself using the Helm's manual. I did every check except checking the speed input which would have required me to get both rear wheels off the ground and simulate driving at about 25 mph. I determined that the speed control servo was bad. That is what the dealer replaced under warranty. You may want to check out the following site for a Ford service cd.
The diesel cruise is totally different from the gas type - it's just a computer. You'll have to let a dealer diagnose that unless it turns out to be just metal shavings building up on the sensor in the top of the rear diff, which you can check & clean yourself. If that's what it is, you need to find out WHY you have metal shavings...
