how much would one suspect to pay to have wood laminate flooring installed? do they charge by the square foot or what ? wife wants new flooring and i have no time to do it just wondering how much it's going to cost....thanks
Yes any flooring Co. can give you a cost per S.F. But it all depends on what Kind of Wood flooring you pic! I would guess that cost will be somewhere between 6 and 10 dollars per S.F. for the middle of the road materials Installed, Premium Flooring like Bellawood will cost more... Solid wood flooring Like OAK will cost the Most.... Prices may vary from this depending on your location!
Man if you can find the time you should really do it yourself, its really easy to do, and if your carefull and take your time you can do the same job as anyone else would do.
Solid wood flooring Like OAK will cost the Most.... !
not nessisarily, Right now I'm selling unfinished 2 1/4" x 3/4" red oak for 2.25 a sqft... We charge 5 bucks a sqft to install, sand, and finish. but you can find europeans to do it for about 2 bucks a sqft.
I've got Laminate flooring (lmflooring.com) in the 3-7 buck range. not including installation
That's Cheeper than the 3.99 per S.F. for bellawood! And with solid Oak it would last a lifetime + if you take care of it... and if not You just Sand and Refinish!

That sounds like a good price for red oak. A lot of the oak flooring is 1/2" these days.
i have done it before, brother - in - law had some left over wich was just enough to do my hall and half bath with. was pretty easy but right now i don't have the time. i don't mind spending the money on good flooring, just don't want to get ripped off on the instalation. how much does it cost to install by the square-foot? we'rre talking the wood laminate not solid ( i still need to put gas in two vehichles lol ) just wat top be prepaird when we go to pick the stuff out, have a starting point to negotiate with... thanks again....andy
Hey active 460 have you checked out Lumber Liquidators in Syracuse? I've seen some good prices from them. Don't go with the real cheap stuff, you wont be happy. Guy I know in VA was bragging about a $.99/sq. ft. deal. He had one room done with Pergo and one with the cheap stuff. Looked identical until you got close enough to see the peeling with the cheap brand. With cats and dogs go for the pre-finished. That aluminum oxide is tougher than anything you can do yourself.
big box stores in my area charging 3.50 sq ft to install, but have heard may stories of sloppy work. I ordered 9/16 inch thick hardood (Brazilian Cherry) for $6/sq ft online, had it shipped to my front door, and installed it myself. Why mess with laminate when you can get hardwood for a great price online?
If you have access to free advertizing (maybe craigslist or local free classifieds) try placing an ad to get bids. $3.50/s.f. sounds steep to me...it goes down so quick & easy I would think someone could do it for half that & still make money.
