ebay truck possibly have HPD60 and/or D70?

So I found this truck on ebay, somewhat close to where I live.

eBay Motors: Ford : F-350 (item 170240243920 end time Jul-25-08 17:50:38 PDT)

If I understand correctly, 1977.5 through 1979 f350 4x4's and some heavy gvwr f250 4x4's (such as the snowfighter package) had HPD60 front axles and sometimes D70 rear axles.

However, if this truck is truly a "high boy" as the owner has posted, doesn't that mean that the frame width is narrower than standard trucks and therefor the axles would be shorter and unusable on my 1978?

Just keeping my eyes out for these 2 axles...

There is no such thing as a factory F350 4WD till 1979, and this rig is not an F350, it's an F250.

The seller posted the VIN: f26slx89982.

F26 = F250 4WD / S = 400 2V / L = Michigan Truck Assembly Plant / X89982 = 1977.

The engine has been swapped. There were no 460 4WD's available till 1983.

There is no such thing as an F350 High Boy. All High Boys (not a Ford term) are F250 Regular or Crew Cab 4WD Styleside Pickups, or Cab & Chassis offered 1967/76 and 1977 before serial # Y20,001.

There were no dual wheel styleside pickups made till 1980, then only as F350's till 1985/86 when Ford also offered a F250 dual wheel Styleside pickup.

The only way dual wheeled rigs were sold prior to 1980 was as a Cab & Chassis, and unless a domestic special order F250, they are all F350's.

The odometers on these trucks only read to 99999.9, then return to zero, so is that that actual miles or has it been around more than once?

It's a cobbled up Frankenstein monster.

Ok I'm kinda confused a little.

Since you're the "number dummy" can you lay it all straight for me?

I'm keeping my eye out for a HPD60 front axle and possibly a D70 rear axle that would fit my 1978 f250 ranger 4x4.

What specific trucks should I look for for the HPD60 front axle? And what specific trucks should I look for for the D70 rear axle?

I know what the hpD60 axle looks like, not too sure about the D70 though.

Dana 60 front axles were used on some 1968/79 F250's, all 1979 F350's.

Dana 70's: 1967/79 F350's, some 1977/79 F250's. The Dana 70 is the Dana 60's larger brother, the two rear ends look very similar.

That supposed '77 F350 4WD ain't any such thing. By the VIN, it's an F250 4WD. The rest of it is someone's cobbled up project truck, called a Frankenstein monster here on FTE.

But I specifically need to find one that is 77.5 or newer (up to 79) because it's the wider width to bolt into my truck, rather than the narrow width for highboys and such...

am I correct?

Yes your correct. You do not want one prior to 77.5 as they will be a low pinion pos D60. Where do you live looking for the D60? I have a front 79 D60 4.10 with trac loc I'm selling. Shoot me a PM if your interested.
