Does anyone know a part number for a gas tank that will mount underneath (behind the rearend) the bed of a '61 shortbed. I also need the part number for the fuel sender as well.
May have already seen these fuel tank relocation articles, threw them in just in case. Appears many who relocated under the frame went with the Mustang fuel tank. Suggest run a search on topic and narrow search field to the 61-66 forum and should find great deal of info, particularly, input from members who responded to the thread and made suggestions and comments. Believe I bookmarked a fuel tank supplier but only carries the stainless steel and wow are they expensive. Relocating the filler neck is covered in the 'Classic Truck Magazine' article, possibly in the other links also. Anyhow, hope of some help.
I have a 63 uni SWB and am deciding on a fuel tank myself. I thought about the mustang setup and it is a viable option if you want the filler in the bed floor. I however do not. I saw another article with a 49-52 chevy passenger car tank that is virtually identically dimensionally to the mustang tank. It can be ordered for carb or Fuel injection and exits to the side between the frame rail and the bed floor. Mount a filler door and you're all set.
try page 4 or 5 on that thread... look threw the pictures, the guy did a saddle tank that goes infront of the drivers side rear axle... its very cool, and will be what i plan to do someday.... **dreams off into lala land** some day...
