i have an 82 f100 with a 302 in it and here lately on really hot days if im driving through town and drive back my truck gets up to 220 degrees but normally its only about 180 or 190 and when i go to shut it off it starts like squeeling and rattling i have no clue what it could be other than i need to flush my radiator. could this be the radiator has to much antifreeze or what because when the last time it was flushed and refilled another guy did it that i bought the truck from. im really dumbfounded. thanks in advance for the help if i dont thank u after u post
I just changed the water pump and radiator on my 85 F150 (300-6 w/ EFC), but I can't get the fan off the nose of the old water pump. I know it is threaded on but I can't get it to turn. I have the old pump with the fan and pulley of the truck and I tried locking the shaft up by jaming the impeller and turning the nut but the impeller came off instead. I've tried putting the back of the shaft in a vice, putting the pulley in a vice (with the bolts back in the pulley). Any ideas would be great, or even where to get a new fan quickly so I can just cut this one off and get the pulley.
A non clutch fan is noisy and will hurt your mileage. You would probably have to change waterpump styles too. That could get complicated.
I believe those large nuts on the fan are left hand threads. So try turning it the wrong way and see if it will come off. Usually putting a wrench on it, and then smacking the wrench with a hammer works better than steady presssure.
I don't. I have personally had one fly apart on me, and other people I know have had the same thing happen. How do they get away with selling junk like that?
