I have a 68 F100 with a 410FE motor. Not sure but should be around 475hp and 550tq. I tore the stock C6 out of it and have to get it rebuilt. The guy at the trans shop said that the R-Code Servo won't fit my trans. It has to be 681/2 and up to fit. I can get a C6 from a local garage for about $100 that came out of a 74 model truck. My question is do you all think it is worth the extra cabbage just to get the R-Code servo?? I don't race this truck, but I am a little hard on it once in a while... If you know what I mean....
If other please list explanation...
If you are going to use it I'd look for at least a "E" shift lever to go with it. A "F" would be even better. I use a "L" servo with a "E" shift lever in mine.

Where do you get the E or F shift lever? I can't seem to find them. The guy that is working on my trans is really P'ing me off. He is suppose to be good, but hasn't shown me anything impressive yet.
With that much power, you should build the trans to be able to handle more power than the engine makes, so stock will not do!
I'd replace all the bushings that can be replaced, get a better than stock band, the "R" code servo piston and the matching lever, one more clutch in both the forward and direct clutch packs, a good quality furnace brazed torque converter, the E4OD 6 gear planetary set up, a decent "mild" shift kit, and you should already have the shorter style "that came on the older FE trucks" support bearing output shaft and housing assembly.
All can be had, or viewed in the FORD performance catalog.
Thanks for the info. I am trying to find a newer style case now. I think I just found one out of a 82' Truck for $45. Mayeb soon I can get all together..
The trans guy still can't get the servo to fit my trans. I talked to TCI and they said that their servo would fit all the trans. So my question is can I install the servo after the trans is finished or does it have to be installed while the insides are out? If I can change it later I will go ahead and get it back and just order the TCI and put it in when I get it home.
You can put the whole thing together. Make sure the band is in there though, you just can't put the valve body in.
What do you mean by it not fitting ?

The trans guy said that the servo he got want fit my case. It only fits 69 and up, but I took him a trans out of a 74 truck and he said it wouldn't fit it either. I kindof think he has the wrong one.. I talked to TCI trans and they said it should ALL C6 trans so it has me wondering. I was going to tell him to just put it together and me order the TCI servo and put it in later.
